Tommy Hackenbruck Retro Games Team Registration
05/14/2012

The 2012 Retro Games will be going down June 22-23 (Friday-Saturday) in Salt Lake City.  This year we will have both an individual and a team competition.  Information on the competitions and how to register is posted below.  Please check back often as registration is not quite up, but will be soon.  We do expect to sell out both competitions, as of now they are capped at 30 men, 30 women, and 30 teams (2 guys+2 girls).

Registration for the Retro Games Individual Competition will be closed until after the Online Qualifier.  The individual competition will be a re-make of the 2008 Games, and scoring will be "Every Second Counts" style.  The lowest cumulative time at the end of the weekend for men and women will be crowned the winner.  For more details on the 2008 CrossFit Games, click this LINK

Online Qualifier: If you want to compete in the Individual Open Competition, you must first qualify via the Online Qualifier.  To sign up click the link on the right hand column or click here.  The individual competition is limited to 30 men and 30 women but is subject to change if there is an overwhelming demand.  The online qualifier will run 10 days, in which you will complete 3 workouts that we post.  The workouts must be done as described by the demo videos, and a video must be submitted.  The workouts will be quick, easy to do, and will allow us to properly seed all the heats for the competition.

Team Competition: As a new feature to the Retro Games, we are putting on the first ever Affiliate Team competition here in Utah!  The team competition will be teams of 4, 2 men and 2 women.  The programming will be the same as the 2009 CrossFit Affiliate Cup from Aromas!  We are re-creating "the Ranch" here in Salt Lake City so everybody can experience the homegrown, backyard throwdown feel that made the crossfit games so special.  To partitipate in the Retro Games team competition, a team captain must register the team under a team name.

Thanks Tommy, regionals was a blast. The Snatch ladder wasn't too great, wanted to get to 235 but didn't quite lock out at 195 so I got a no rep. Not sure if I'll be able to do Retro games, Dropped a 4x4 piece of wood on my toe and broke it. Can't do any Oly lifting for a couple weeks. Maybe I can get out for F.E. 3.

Mike, it's $79. $10 for the online qualifier, and after that you will pay $69 more to register for the 2 day event.

Gotcha. Teams can be any combo of 2 guys + 2 girls from anywhere. First come first serve

I guess what I was asking is do all 4 have to currently be from the same affiliate, I would rather participate on a team but probably wouldn't be able to convince 3 others to travel. But I used to belong to a gym in SLC called Ute CrossFit, ever heard of it?

Not sure I understand the question. The team competition is 2 men and 2 women per team, they will do the same exact workouts as the 2009 Crossfit games affiliate cup, scoring will be the same as the 2009 affiliate cup. Open competition is for individuals, they will do same workouts as 2008 games, and scoring will be the same as 2008 games (every second counts).

What are the rules for the team? Same as the open?
